After trading away Percy Harvin, the Vikings needed a down field threat. The Vikings have found their man, signing veteran wide receiver Greg Jennings.
The Vikings overpaid for Jennings, even though they needed a number one receiver. At 29 years old and his durability in question, Jennings was not worth the contract the Vikings gave him.
He has missed 11 games due to various injuries over the last couple seasons, and in 2012 he was a non-factor for the Packers. Last season Greg Jennings only played in eight games, and caught a career-low 36 passes for 366 yards and four touchdowns.
Over Jennings' career, he has proven to be a number one receiver, but that was with Aaron Rodgers passing him the ball, not Christian Ponder. Unless Jennings is able to remain healthy and produce at a high level, the Vikings overpaid for him.
So your a pack fan, and you sound like a guy who just got dumped by his GF and went to another dude. "Oh I didnt need her anyways, that guy is a tool. I am so much better."
ReplyDeleteIts absolutely asinine how you wouldnt want a guy who is a 2 time pro bowler and is still 29. Forget the injuries. He is on the field more than Harvin. Plus he is a great locker room guy. And stop hating Ponder. His go to receiver last year... Michael Jenkins
The Packers do not need him -- he is injured and wants to be the main go to guy. They still have the best WR group in the NFL. Instead of the Pack wasting money on an aging WR, we can use the money on the defense.
DeleteObviously Ponder is not that good. If he was, the Vikings would have some faith in him and would not have signed Cassel.
Thanks for responding to my comment,
ReplyDeleteCassel was strictly brought in to be his back up. Leslie Frazier and Rick already said this. Did you watch the game Joe Webb played in GB??? He was awful, the knew he needed a better back up. The only reason you have such a good receiving group is because you have (which I have no problem saying) the best QB in the NFL. But if you watched Greg Jennings play (which you did, because your a pack fan) the guy ran great routes and got good separation from the DBs. Jordy Nelson has drop issues. Cobb is decent, but in IMO aging or not Rodgers will miss Jennings, and Ponder could really benifit from him. Great locker room guy and still I feel has some pretty solid years in front of him. I WOULD RATHER HAVE HIM THEN PERCY AND DAY OF THE WEEK TO!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for reading and commenting. I agree the Vikings need to give Ponder another year, but last year he struggled. Now we will see how good he is with a great WR.
Deleteand seriously please Packer fan or not you need to give Ponder one more year. I could have got more separation from the corners than our receivers did. If the Vikings get a receiver in the draft (Justin Hunter i hope) and he still sucks with him and Jennings, by all means then he is not suited to be an NFL QB.
ReplyDeletealso real quick, you want to see a team that overpaid a guy. Check Miami.
